अपने बारे में कुछ बतायें । (Tell me something about you / Introduce yourself / Tell me about yourself)

“अपने बारे में कुछ बतायें” या “tell me something about you.” आगे पढ़ने से पहले इस प्रश्न पर गौर करें। अब इस सवाल को खुद से पूछें और पूरी ईमानदारी से इसका जवाब दें (और जवाब english में देना हैं क्योंकि ज्यादातर सभी बड़ी companies english में ही इंटरव्यू लेती हैं।)

क्या हुआ?

अक्सर जब हम इस सवाल का जवाब देते हैं तो 3 या 4 लाइन बोल कर सोचने लग जाते हैं कि आगे क्या बोलना है? और कभी-कभी तीन या चार लाइन के बाद कुछ बोल ही नहीं पाते हैं। ऐसा अक्सर इसलिए होता है कि हम इस सवाल को हल्के में ले लेते हैं और इसकी तैयारी किए बिना ही इंटरव्यू देने चले जाते हैं और वहाँ पर इस सवाल के जवाब में ज्यादा कुछ नहीं बता पाते हैं।

Gyanversha पर मेरी पिछली post “हर इंटरव्यू में पूछे जाने वाले 44 common सवाल” का ये पहला सवाल है। ये एक ऐसा सवाल है जो दिखने में तो बहुत साधारण है लेकिन बहुत important सवाल है। छोटी मोटी कंपनियों का तो पता नहीं पर हर बड़ी कंपनी, MNC  में ये सवाल निश्चित रूप से पूछा जाता है। यह सवाल लगभग हर इंटरव्यू में पूछा जाता है। इसलिए मैं इसके बारे में details में बताऊँगा।

आसान सा दिखने वाले इस सवाल का जवाब देते समय अच्छे-अच्छे अटक जाते हैं। या confuse हो जाते हैं कि आगे क्या बोलना है? जिससे Interviewer के सामने उनका impression खराब हो जाता है। लेकिन अगर आप इस सवाल को अच्छे से समझकर, उसकी तैयारी करके जायेंगे  तो आपको पता रहेगा कि आपको क्या बोलना है और कैसे बोलना है? और आप interviewer के सामने एक अच्छा, समझदारी भरा वह जवाब देंगे जो actual में interviewer आपसे चाहता है। इससे interviewer पर आपका impression पड़ेगा और उस interview में select होने के आपके chance बढ़ जाएंगे।

क्यों पूछा जाता है ये सवाल?

इस सवाल के पूछने के 2 reason हैं।

1. Candidate को थोड़ा comfortable feel करवाना। (To make the candidate feel comfortable)

अक्सर इंटरव्यू देते टाइम candidate के मन में थोड़ा सा डर, doubt, आत्मविश्वास में कमी, हिचक, confusion होता है। यह सवाल इसलिए ही पूछा जाता है कि हर candidate के पास अपने बारे में बताने के लिए कुछ ना कुछ होता है। हर candidate अपने बारे में तो जानता ही है। जब candidate starting में अपने बारे में कुछ बोल लेता है, कुछ बता लेता है तो उसकी हिचक कम हो जाती है, उसका डर कम हो जाता है और उसका आत्मविश्वास बढ़ जाता है और वह relax feel करता है। और फिर आगे के सवालों के लिए confident हो जाता है।

2. Candidate की candidacy जानने के लिए।

कभी-कभी interviewer के पास इतना टाइम नहीं होता है कि आपके बारे में हर बात आपके CV से पढ़ सके या वे आपका confidence check करने के लिए भी ये सवाल कर सकते हैं कि आप इंटरव्यू के लिए कितना prepare करके आयें हैं। Interviewer इसी सवाल से यह जान लेते हैं कि आप उस जॉब के लिए कितना फिट हैं। इसलिए इस सवाल का जवाब देते समय यह ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि आपका जवाब आपकी personality, qualification, work experience, interests और skill पर focused होना चाहिए।

ना कि आपकी जिंदगी की कहानी या उस बात पर होना चाहिए, जिसकी उस जॉब के लिए जरूरत नहीं है। आपके जवाब से यह show होना चाहिए कि आप उस job profile के लिए right candidate हैं। इस सवाल के पूछने का मुख्य उद्देश्य यही है कि candidate के बारे में यह जानना कि वह कम्पनी या उस Job के लिए fit है कि नहीं।

इस सवाल की तैयारी कैसे करें? (How to prepare interview about myself)

अक्सर candidate बिना तैयारी के इस सवाल का जवाब देते समय या तो confuse हो जाते हैं कि क्या बोलें या क्या ना बोलें? या फिर interviewer को अपनी जिंदगी की कहानी सुनाने लग जाते हैं। ध्यान रखें interviewer ने आपको अपनी जिंदगी की कहानी सुनाने के लिए नहीं बुलाया है। इस सवाल का सही जवाब देने के लिए आपको इसकी समझदारी से तैयारी करनी पड़ेगी। अगर आपने इस सवाल का जवाब सही तरीके से नहीं दिया तो interviewer पर आपका यह impression पड़ेगा कि आप इस कंपनी या इस job के लिए :

• अनुभवहीन हो। (Naive or inexperienced)
• आपकी योग्यता कम है। (Under – qualified)
• आपकी योग्यता अधिक है। (Over – qualified)
• इंटरव्यू के लिए बिना तैयारी के आये हैं। (unprepared for the interview)….. so not really interested for this job.
• कम्पनी के लिए सही candidate नहीं हो। (Not a suitable candidate for the company) ……so may be a risk for the company.

व्यक्तिगत जानकारी (Personal information)

अपने बारे में व्यक्तिगत बातें बतायें। जैसे – आपका नाम, आप कहाँ से belong करते हैं।

Example:   Sir, I am Ajay. I belongs to Delhi. अगर interviewer आपका नाम जानता है तब आपको अपना नाम बताने की जरूरत नहीं है। तब आप “Sir, I belongs to Delhi.” से स्टार्ट कर सकते हैं।

शिक्षा (Education)

अगर आप fresher हैं तो अपनी शिक्षा के बारे में बतायें। जैसे – आपकी शिक्षा (degree, diploma etc) क्या है? कहाँ से पास किया? कितने मार्क्स आए? क्या subject था?       

Example 1 : I completed my 12th grade from Delhi public school with 92% from CBSE board last year.       

Example 2 : I have done B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering from AKG college with 82% in 2018. अगर आप experienced हैं तो सिर्फ अपनी latest education के बारे में ही बतायें। तब आपको कहाँ  से?  कितने मार्क्स? बताने  की जरूरत नहीं है।        

Example :   I have done B.Tech  in Mechanical Engineering.

अनुभव । उपलब्धियाँ । (experience । achievements)

अगर आप fresher हैं तो अपने कुछ achievements बता सकते हैं। इसके लिए आपको 3 या 4 achievements की लिस्ट बनानी होगी। जैसे – आपने कोई प्रोजेक्ट तैयार किया हो, कोई presentation बनाया हो, किसी काम के लिए कोई award या appreciation मिला हो।

Example : I have done a project on producing light during my engineering. I have volunteered for many social work and also participated in the clean my city campaign. अगर आप experienced हैं तो अपने experience के बारे में बतायें।

Example : I have 8 year experience as a computer programmer. I have excellent knowledge of various programming languages like C, C++, Java and Java script, shell scripting. I have learnt lot of techniques, tools and skills that would help me in my next role. I also managed a team of 5 members. I have strong interpersonal skills and ready to face challenges and get along with the people very well.

करियर लक्ष्य/ कंपनी में रूचि (Career goals/ Interest in Company).

अपने career goals को अपने जवाब में जरूर शामिल करें। अपने जवाब में ऐसे goals को शामिल करें जो आप उस कंपनी में आकर achieve कर सकते हैं। आपके goals से आपकी forward thinking का पता चलना चाहिए। आपके जवाब से interviewer को लगना चाहिए कि आप long time तक उस कंपनी में जॉब करेंगे। अपने जवाब में कभी भी अपने life goals (जैसे – घर खरीदना, कार खरीदना, विदेश घूमने जाना आदि) को शामिल ना करें।

Example for Fresher :- I want to get a job in a reputed organization. Where I can enhance my knowledge and skills and learn new things to get update with the world.

Example for Experienced :- I want to contribute my knowledge, skills, abilities & hard work in the position which I will be offered and to become an asset for the organization by achieving higher position of the organization.

ध्यान देने वाली कुछ बातें  (Tips to remember):-

1. Interview के दौरान अपने CV को रट कर नहीं सुनाना चाहिए।
2. इस सवाल के लिए पहले से ही जवाब को लिखकर तैयार करना चाहिए और जब तक सही तरह से याद ना हो जाए, सही तरह से समझ ना आ जाए, तब तक इसकी practice करते रहनी चाहिए।
3. आप जो भी information दें वह relevant & true होनी चाहिए। इंटरव्यू में कभी भी झूठी या गलत बात नहीं बोलनी चाहिए।
4. आप जो भी information दें वह आपकी position, experience और उस कंपनी में interest पर ही focused होनी चाहिए।
5. अपनी life story या ऐसी unnecessary information जो उस job profile से match ना करें, इंटरव्यू के दौरान नहीं बतानी चाहिए।
6. आपका जवाब 2 से 3 मिनट में खत्म हो जाना चाहिए। 2 मिनट से कम समय या 3 मिनट से ज्यादा समय का impression अच्छा नहीं होगा।

Sample Example for “Tell me about yourself”.

यहाँ मैं Ajay नाम के candidate का example दे रहा हूँ, जो एक web developer की position के लिए इंटरव्यू दे रहा है।

Sample answer – 1 (अगर अजय एक fresher है।)

Hello sir, Good Morning! My name is Ajay. I am from Delhi. I have done B. Tech in computer science from AKG college with 85% in 2018. I have done a project to develop a website. I also done certification course on C, C++, and Java. I have volunteered for many social work and also participated in clean my city campaign. I want to get a job in reputed organization where I can enhance my knowledge and skills and learn new things to get updated with the world.

Sample answer – 2 (अगर अजय एक experienced है।)

Hello Sir, Good Morning! I am Ajay. I am from Delhi. I have done engineering in computer science. I have 8 year experience as a computer programmer. I have excellent knowledge of various programming languages like C, C++, Java and Java script, shell scripting. I have learnt lot of techniques, tools and skills that would help me in my next role. I also managed a team of 5 members. I have strong interpersonal skills and ready to face challenges and get along with the people very well. I have volunteered for many social work and also participated in clean my city campaign. I want to contribute my knowledge, skills, abilities & hard work in the position which I will be offered and to become an asset for the organization by achieving higher position of the organization.
